Where is Vincent LaGuardia Gambini?

This is the only article I'll cite when it comes to the appalling events that transpired this weekend.

First - only a couple hundred people showed up for the Garth Brooks / Trisha Yearwood concert. I'll bet you that was the smallest crowd they have ever played for. I know some Yanks (of which I'm one) don't get into Country music, but please....GB and TY are viewed as cross-over artists. They appeal to everyone, so I see this non-crowd as bigger news than anything else. A couple hundred people could have been walking around the Mall, visiting museums or vacationing in Washington.

Second, as for groups blocking Gore from the Mall, did it ever occur to this idiot that OTHER PEOPLE may have legitimate reasons for booking events in the Mall?

Read this, which I got off the About DC website:

Late June - Early July

The Smithsonian Folklife FestivalDates: June 27 to July 1 and July 4 to 8, 2007.Every summer the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage sponsors this annual festival on the National Mall which celebrates cultural traditions around the world. The Festival includes daily and evening music and dance performances, crafts and cooking demonstrations, storytelling and discussions of cultural issues. The 2007 program will highlight diverse cultures of the Mekong River; Northern Ireland and the roots of Virginia.

And another description of this event:

Smithsonian Folklife FestivalJune 27 to July 1 and July 4 to 8, 2007. Celebrate cultural traditions from around the world. The Festival includes daily and evening music and dance performances, crafts and cooking demonstrations, storytelling and discussions of cultural issues. This is one of Washington, DC’s most popular summer events.

July

Fourth of JulyWashington DC is a spectacular place to celebrate July 4th! Independence Day celebrations in the nation’s capital start with a morning parade, concerts on the National Mall and the West Lawn of the Capitol and a huge fireworks display on the grounds of the Washington Monument.

There are 9 museums on the Mall - and last week was a big vacation week because of the July 4th NATIONAL holiday. I don't think Gore was blocked, I think he was trying to muscle in on a captive audience...which makes me sick to my stomach because it was a calculated move - and not one done out of 'love' for the planet. I'd like to hear how he managed to sway the board at the one museum that acquiesced to his demands.

Third, since when does a concert have anything to do with saving the planet? How much energy was expended producing these poorly attended events? I've got to give credit where it is due - a lot of 'Greenies' downloaded off the web, although I bet a portion of them were looking for a performer to say something outrageous that could be posted on You Tube.

Fourth, let us not forget that Gore is utterly wrong to point a chubby finger at his fellow humans and say we're the problem. This man is beyond stupid if he thinks he can explain away all the natural climate fluctuations of the world on humans. The largest warming factor in our solar system is the Sun, and it is because of this Sun that we are here at all. Without the Sun, I doubt humans could keep the Earth warm enough for a nano second.

I really believe a consortium of scientists is going to have to get together and confront this idiot and his liberal mindless minions one day. Until that time, we are going to be subjected to more of the fright tactics used by those that want to control the masses.

All I ask is that people THINK.

Come on, you all had to graduate High School...science isn't that hard. And you all have some common sense. Don't be taken in by movie stars or politicians. These people are the snake oil salesmen of the 21st century. What do they want from you? Money, votes, and blind loyalty...anything that keeps them in power.

Do not ever surrender your individualism, but work towards a consensus that is logical after examining ALL the facts, not just a sampling of what one side feeds you. This may take longer and require some dedication on your part, but in the end, you'll be better informed and will have solid platform from which to argue your point.

Here is a link from the year 2000.

Read their arguement and compare it to what you're hearing now.

Ask yourself - what is it that the Global Warming nuts are trying to prevent - cooling or warming? And ask yourself - if there is a cooling and warming cycle driven by the Earth's fluctuating position in the solar system, does it really matter if I drive a Prius or an SUV?
